यूनेस्को वैश्विक शिक्षा निगरानी रिपोर्ट में दावा किया है कि स्कूली पाठ्यपुस्तकों में आधी आबादी को कम आंका जा रहा है। इसमें कहा गया कि जहां कहीं भी इनको शामिल भी किया जाता है तो इन्हें सिर्फ पारंपरिक भूमिकाओं में दर्शाया गया है।
