MAT quashes as "illegal'' 2020 State GR giving SEBC option to apply as EWS mid-selection

The Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) on Thursday held as illegal a December 2020 State government resolution (GR) and held as inapplicable a May 2021 GR allowing Socially and Educationally Backward Class candidates [S.E.B.C] to apply in Economically Weaker Section category [E.W.S] midway of a selection process for recruitment to various posts following a 2019 advertisement.
