World English Day is celebrated annually on April 23 to mark the birth and death anniversary of William Shakespeare. This day aims to promote the importance of English language, cultural diversity, and multilingualism. The UN initiated language days for each of the Organisation's six official languages in 2010, leading to the establishment of World English Day.
