IIM Visakhapatnam researchers develop machine learning-based MMR dashboard

Researchers from the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) developed a maternal mortality dashboard/decision support system (DSS) that makes use of explainable machine learning models on data from the national family health survey, HMIS data, and almost 30-35 variables. The DSS can suggest healthcare interventions specific to administrative units based on multiple factors, including healthcare infra, insurance, agroclimatic conditions, literacy levels, topography, nutrition, among others. This personalised healthcare strategy shows promise in enhancing maternal health outcomes and reducing overall maternal mortality rates. IIMV aims to extend the dashboard’s influence all over India.
