Odisha government takes steps to safeguard transgender rights in colleges, varsities

The state government has urged degree colleges and universities to establish monitoring committee cells within educational institutions to address issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence against transgender individuals. These directives follow recommendations from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to ensure the welfare of transgender persons. The NHRC's guidelines cover education, healthcare, employment, inclusivity, and grievance redressal for transgender individuals. The state is also working towards making educational institutions more inclusive and providing financial assistance to transgender students.
