The Ministry of Education has removed Saroj Sharma as Chairperson of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) following serious allegations of harassment and caste discrimination, which were made public after her driver, Ram Kumar, took his life. In his note, he accused Sharma of causing him mental agony. An official order confirmed her repatriation to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, effective October 23, 2024. This follows her earlier removal as VC of the Indian Institute of Teacher Education.
