The Union Cabinet approved the opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas, 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas, and the expansion of one existing Kendriya Vidyalaya. This initiative will provide over 82,000 students with access to affordable, high-quality education. The project's estimated cost is Rs 5,872.08 crore over eight years, adding to the current 1,256 Kendriya Vidyalayas serving 13.56 lakh students.
