Maine schools test new model for inclusive education: Will it be a changemaker?

Maine is launching a five-year pilot to integrate students with disabilities into general classrooms, aiming to break long-standing educational silos. With one in five children needing special education—well above the national average—the program, backed by federal funding and the University of Maine, seeks to improve inclusion, reduce costs, and create learning environments where all students can thrive.
