Explained: Why NMC shut down the MBBS course at Vaishno Devi medical college in J&K

The National Medical Commission withdrew approval for the MBBS course at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence after a surprise inspection found serious deficiencies in faculty, infrastructure and clinical exposure. Despite political protests over student composition, the shutdown was based on regulatory non-compliance. Existing students will be relocated to other medical colleges as supernumerary seats.
