Texas launches Students First portal to report DEI and faculty senate law violations across colleges

Texas has launched the Students First portal, a new state-run platform allowing students, staff and the public to report alleged violations of laws restricting DEI activities and limiting faculty senate authority at public colleges. Operated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Office of the Ombudsman, the portal enforces SB 17 and SB 37. Complaints can bypass institutional processes, triggering state investigations and compliance timelines.
