Kent Syverud has been named the 16th president of the University of Michigan, returning to his alma mater on July 1 after serving as chancellor and president of Syracuse University since 2014. A U-M alumnus, Syverud earned degrees in law and economics and previously served as dean at Vanderbilt University and Washington University in St. Louis.
