Greek to readers, no takers for Santali books at JSR fair

Stall 66 at the Jamshedpur Book Fair is eagerly waiting for its first customer. The stall sells books in Santali language written in Oli Chiki script. Despite the high footfall at the fair, no books have been purchased yet. Santali books are not widely known, even in tribal areas where the language is spoken. The lack of education in Oli Chiki script contributes to this. More efforts are needed to promote education in tribal languages in village schools.
