UDISE+ 2025-26 report records sharp fall in school dropout rates as teacher strength surpasses 1.02 crore nationwide

The UDISE+ 2025-26 report by the Ministry of Education recorded a sharp decline in school dropout rates, with preparatory-level dropouts falling to 1.8% and secondary-level dropouts to 7%. Student retention improved at middle and secondary stages, while showing a marginal decline at foundational and preparatory levels. Secondary gross enrolment ratio rose to 71.7%, and the number of school teachers crossed 1.02 crore for the first time, reflecting sustained progress in India’s education system.
